Our eco-collom was a great experience and i learned alot about self-sustaining eco-systems. We also learned teamwork for projects as we didnt blame anyone throught the tough times and we encouraged each other through the good times. I learned how plants can thrive in easy conditions such as ( in a coke bottle with little soil, little water and average amount of light ). Overall i enjoyed working with Yaeesh Collins, Musa Nyangiwe and Imaad Jacobs. For me our ecocolom was marvelous

                                                                                                                 From Zico

I definitely got a much better understanding  of ecology as a result of  creating and caring for our eco-column.  I now understand that an eco column requires biotic and a biotic factors to be a success. We needed to have both living and non-living factors for the eco-column to be a success. I think that this eco-column was a reflection of the teamwork we put in because things were done on time and together as a unit and we each put in our own signature work on the project which I think helped make our project so unique.

                                                                                                                                From Musa Nyangiwe

I think that we did a good job, with mantaining our ecocollum as we had top standard growing results. I learned alot and it was a great reide. I will miss the comoradery in the group as we have always looking out for each other. I loved it and will miss the wembly brothers

                                                                                                                         From Imaad Jacobs

I enjoyed the ecocolum and i thought it looked great. I also loved our group members (no homo ) they showed me how a team should work. They all chipped in when they needed to and worked with their best abilites. Our ecocolum sustatined itself well and i was dissapionted to see that it had died over the holiday period so i will miss this group alot and thank you SIr for teaching us the fundermentals on Eco-Sytems and lifes great lessons

                                                                                                                 From Yaeesh Collins

Our eco collom is an eco-system because it has abiotic and biotic factors.
Abiotic we have soil, rocks, water
Biotic we have plants, mold(fungi), tiny lice like organisms
A eco-system is an area which consists of biotic and abiotic factors. It is a comunity of living organisms. The abiotic facctors are wind, climate, tempreature, terrain, gradient, altitude, soil type.

Biotic factors are all the living life of an ecosystem such as animals, bacteria, fungi, plants

together with theese two components an eco-system is complete
OUR predictions were correct as in our  Terra zone most of the plants died

Decomposition zone : the apple core decomposed and mold would form

AQUA zone: The water went dirtier but we were wrong as no organisms appeared in our water

Photos of the eco column

These are our plants that are growing really well

The decomposition zone

Terra Zone

More decomposition zone
As you can see the aqua zone has now become a darkish yellow and it started off Crystal clear

Biotic :

AQUA ZONE : There was no sign of any Biotic items in our 4 slides that we've taken.
DECOMPOSITION ZONE: There are like little maggots and Fruit flys
TERRA ZONE:  There are the same maggots from the decomposition zone.

Abiotic:

AQUA ZONE : The water is gone a yellowish color
DECOMPOSITION ZONE: The apple and plants have mostly decomposed and mould has grown in the Decomposition zone
TERRA ZONE : Our plants have thrived and as a result we have put a stick to support our radish plants which have exceeded our expectations. our other plants are growing ut not as quickly as our raddishes

our video on our eco column

ANNOTATED DIAGRAM

this is an annotated diagram of our eco column
Zico_ the resarch and design and building
Musa- did the stucture
Yaeesh_ did seeds and coke bottles
Imaad_ did the ingredient to our self sustaing ecocollum

Plant Growth

Day 6 of the plants

Our ecocollum is SELF-SUSTAINING
The BIOTIC items: PLANTS[ Mix flowers, Indigenous plants and radish seeds]
ABIOTIC items are : Rocks from Imaads garden, Soil from our lush campus; Water from Imaads koi pond, A banana peel and apple from Zicos lunchbox

This MAkes our ecocolumn self-sustaining because the plants will grow in  the terra zone by them selfs but we will water them, the decomposition zone will decompose by itself as it has decomposing fruit, and the water from our plants will filter through into the aqua zone

This is our design

The Journey.

We have finished our eco column it is growing really smoothly and the update of pictures will be up tomorrow first thing! Watch this page and see the amazing Wembly brothers eco column grow as we take you on its journey! Videos will also be uploaded when the technical difficulties of Youtube and Blogspot allow me to put it on! Thanks.

Wembley Brothers.

This is our video after we finished everything, we are going through some difficulties because we had to dispose of our Friend Mugamat the snail because they said he was eating our plants. this is a sad world ....

You know how we do!

Eco-Column

Our Eco-column is complete...you know how its done...photos and any videos will follow

As i said, you know how we do !
